Medical Art Therapy Support Group
Leader: Katie Dunn MS, ATR
Experiencing hospitalization for illness or injury is a unique experience for a child. Transition back into “normal” life may be more challenging, as others may not know how to relate. Even if challenges do not present themselves, many children appreciate spending time with other children who have been in the hospital.
Our medical art therapy support group not only honors the experiences children have had in hospitals but also allows for creative expression of their stories and a place of community. This group is open to any child who has been hospitalized for any length of time. Groups are lead by a master’s level art therapist. Each structured group includes an introduction and check-in time, a short art directive and time for members to process and discuss art created as appropriate.
Art directives are geared towards and not limited to fostering expression of feelings, processing perceived trauma and relation of experience through story telling and fun.
Ages 18 and under.
Two Saturdays a month starting in July from 10-11am
7/12, 7/26, 8/9, 8/23, 9/13 & 9/27
Members: $10
Non-Members: $15
Punchcard applicable.
